A sadly depleted group of us did amazingly well at Manly. We originally had 19 entries but 6 dropped out leaving a noble and lucky 13. We managed 3 relays and the Women's won and was nearly DQ'd but let off with a warning - so bang nearly went 20 points. Let it be a lesson to ALL backstrokers that you MUST finish your race on your back ABOVE the water and NOT submerged. Our other two (mixed 200+ and 160+) relays came comfortably First and Second.
We finished 3rd overall out of 29 clubs and Warringah beat the host club Manly into 2nd place. In the cumulative BPS we are still running second to Warringah but further behind. Novos are even further behind us.
Individual age-group places (1 to 3 only): First to Catherine, Nathan and Vicky, Second to Andrew McCrindell and Third to Ailsa.
Ryde was prominent in timekeeping - much appreciated by all. And several of us did Officials Training before the Carnival and put in some hours practising their roles too. The club is desperately in need of qualified Officials if we are to be able to run our Carnival next year as we will need to provide at least 4 (four) from our own members. This year we only need 3 and are scratching around for them. Thanks, Khyiah and Susan for attending these.
