Singer performs  for PHD Mum’s trip

A rare opportunity to fulfil the lifelong dream of part-time teacher and PhD student Khyiah Angel, 47, has seen her opera singing daughter return from London to put on an entertainment fund-raiser.

Chloe Angel, 25, has been in London for the past two years studying and pursuing a theatre and opera career.

However,she returned to the Dennistone family home five months ago, partially she said to help her mother with the fund-raising for a trip to present her PhD paper in Athens, Greece.

“Mum’s a teacher at Ryde East Public School, but she has always wanted to complete her PhD. It has always wanted to complete her PhD. This been a life long dream of hers.” Chloe said.

Khyiah Angel has recently completed her thesis on media and communications, focussing on the changing nature of writing.

And Chloe will get a little help from her friends for the fund-raiser, hosted at the Dennistone Sports Club on Saturday.

She has organised a number of musical friends from the Newtown performing Arts school, the Sydney Conservatory and even  a regular on the the West End Theatre scene , Amelia Cormack, to perform to raise the $4,000 needed for her  mother’s four day trip. “I have already saved up $1,000 so all I need is another $3,000  .” she said.Khyiah Angel  also has a campaign where people an donate to the cause or purchase her book.
